There’s a new direction in Sacramento, and that is up as the Kings are re-tooling to be a contender in the Pacific Division. And there will be plenty of single game tickets available to watch the NBA’s best at Golden 1 Center as the kids in California’s capital grow up into playoff contenders!
The Kings have two games against Stephen Curry and the Warriors and two against Chris Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers. The Kings believe the future NBA is a guard’s game, evidenced by their dealing of Cousins to New Orleans for shooting guards Buddy Hield and swingman Tyreke Evans. Hield should form a potent backcourt combo with Darren Collison, and Evans is a familiar face after the team drafted him fourth overall in 2009.
Cousins’ departure leaves a big void in the middle, but the Kings have plenty of bodies to fill that spot in 7-footers Kosta Koufos, Willie Cauley-Stein and Skal Labissiere. Cauley-Stein may have the most upside of the trio, but the Kings will also add more building blocks with the picks they acquired in the Cousins deal.
