The Mariners will go as far as Cano, Cruz and Seager take them after the three socked 112 homers in 2016. They will be helped by newcomers Jean Seguera, who had 20 homers for Arizona last season, and Danny Valencia, who hit 18 for Oakland. Jarrod Dyson will provide speed after swiping 30 bases for Kansas City last year.
Felix Hernandez will again be Seattle’s ace, and the front office got reinforcements with Drew Smyly and Yovani Gallardo. Smyly has front-line potential but has yet to deliver, while Gallardo has won 12 or more games six times. Edwin Diaz had 18 saves last year and is in line to double that mark as the full-time closer.
