It’s World Series or bust for the Red Sox, whose aggressive offseason acquisition of pitcher Chris Sale has made them favorites to reach the Fall Classic. And with a venue such as the iconic Fenway Park to watch Boston’s best, now is the time to purchase single game tickets to cheer on the defending AL East champion Red Sox.
The Red Sox will host the archrival Yankees as well as division foes Baltimore and Toronto multiple times. There will also be a three-game set against the World Series champion Cubs from April 28-30 that could serve as a potential Fall Classic preview come October. The Red Sox tilted the balance of power in the AL when they mortgaged some of their farm system to land Sale from the White Sox, but their top three starters are formidable with Sale joining current Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello and 2012 winner David Price. There is also quality in the bullpen, with Craig Kimbrel again closing.
David Ortiz’s retirement leaves a offensively, but the Red Sox have plenty of bats to compensate. Mookie Betts and Hanley Ramirez each hit for 30 homers and 110 RBIs, while veteran Dustin Pedroia, Jackie Bradley Jr., and Xander Bogaerts all provided pop at the plate. Rookie left fielder Andrew Benintendi could be the next big thing in Beantown.
