Getting over the .500 mark has been a struggle for the Montreal Canadiens, but they're certainly giving it the old collège try.

It's been a long season and a long week for the Wild, and frustration has clearly begun to set in.
Thursday, during one of the team's most intense practices this season, players smashed glass with sticks, snapped sticks in half and let expletives fly.
The physical practice, atypical for a day before a game, included lots of lectures from a heated coach.
"The way the game went last night, there was reason for it to be intense," said coach Todd Richards, referring to Wednesday's loss to Phoenix. "I watched the game again, and it was probably worse than what I remembered."
After tossing and turning all night, Richards said it's time for things to change.

Wild call up ex-Gopher Irmen for possible debut

The Minnesota Wild have recalled right wing Danny Irmen from their farm team. Irmen was playing for Houston in the AHL. The 25-year-old has six goals, including two game-winners, and four assists in 17 games for the Aeros this season. The native of Fargo, N.D., and former University of Minnesota star was a third-round draft pick by the Wild in 2003.

The Minnesota Wild took advantage of the lackluster Toronto Maple Leafs. Mikko Koivu scored one goal and assisted on two others in the second period as the Wild ended the Maple Leafs' two-game winning streak with a 5-2 victory Tuesday night. Marek Zidlicky broke a 1-1 tie at 5:44 of the period. Then, 26 seconds after Koivu beat Jonas Gustavsson at 17:29, Greg Zanon made it 4-1.
