Todd McLellan might have been tempted to put his three best forwards together at times this season, but once he finally did it from the start of Friday's game the coach was definitely rewarded.
Dany Heatley notched his ninth career hat trick, Joe Thornton tied a franchise record with four assists and Patrick Marleau scored a huge go-ahead goal in the final four seconds of the second period. In all, the three All-Stars combined for eight points.
"Patty complemented them really well using his speed and providing a tenacious forecheck. They're a good line for us, they played a lot of minutes and we have to make sure they have enough in the tank for tomorrow," McLellan said of Saturday night's game in Anaheim.

The NHL is getting closer to making a recommendation about how to reduce hits to the head.
