The Sharks' struggles since the Olympic break combined with Phoenix's strong play have turned the Pacific Division into a race again.
The Sharks were sitting pretty when play halted in mid-February for the Vancouver Games, leading the Coyotes by 10 points in the standings. But that lead has shrunk to a mere three because the Sharks, losers of four straight, have gone 3-4-1 since the season's restart while the Coyotes have gone 7-1, with those seven victories representing their current winning streak.

The Vancouver Canucks didn't have any problems getting focused and motivated for this opponent. The Canucks bounced back from a lopsided loss to the lowly New York Islanders two nights earlier with a 3-2 victory over San Jose on Thursday, beating the Sharks for just the second time in 10 games over three seasons.
