Rangers Team Report
(Sat, 21 Nov 2009 00:39:53 PST)
No one should be prepared to discard those "$39 million bust" posters or newspaper headlines just yet.
But Wade Redden slowly is working himself back into the good graces of the Rangers' coaching staff, if not the team's harder-to-convince fan base.
Following an admittedly terrible first season of the six-year, $39 million contract he signed with the Rangers in the summer of 2008, Redden has regained an expanded role in recent games, including a return to the power play in place of fellow defenseman Marc Staal.
Of course, for old times' sake, a Redden turnover did lead to a key Washington goal in a 4-2 loss Tuesday to the Capitals.
"Redds, I think we're trying to rehabilitate him, and he very well recognizes it," coach John Tortorella said.
