Lightning Team Report

Throughout the course of a season, teams talk at various points about dealing with adversity. But rarely are there discussions about how teams deal with things during times of success.
That's one thing Lightning coach Rick Tocchet has brought up with his team already this season. Earlier in the season, when things were going well, they suddenly slipped and the descent was rapid. Recently, however, at those times when things begin to slip, the team has found a way to right itself even in the middle of games.
That's been a factor in the team's recent 6-1-5 stretch heading into Saturday's game at Carolina. And when things are going well, Tocchet wants to make sure everybody continues to do the same things on a daily basis.

The NHL is getting closer to making a recommendation about how to reduce hits to the head. The league's 30 GMs and their assistants wrapped up meetings with a discussion of the issue Wednesday and decided to formulate a small committee to take a closer look at it before they get together again in March.
