Iginla hat trick lifts Flames over Kings

Jarome Iginla scored in each period to lead the Calgary Flames to a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings in the NHL on Saturday. Iginla completed his first hat trick of the season, and ninth of his career, with a shot from the right circle that got past Kings goalie Jonathan Quick with 4:07 left in the game.

The Kings, in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Philadelphia at Staples Center, had nearly the same roster they finished last season with. Consistency is good, but only to an extent—the Kings finished with the second-worst record in the Western Conference last season.
Injuries to the Kings' two big summer acquisitions, winger Ryan Smyth (upper body) and defenseman Rob Scuderi (lower body) left the Kings with a 20-man roster that included 18 players who were on the roster at the end of last season.
Defenseman Randy Jones, claimed off waivers on Oct. 29, and left wing Scott Parse, called up from the American Hockey League last month, are the only additions.
