The injuries continue to mount for the Devils. But thanks to the work of players coming from both the minors and free agency, the points keep mounting as well.
"It's just getting worse and worse," coach Jacques Lemaire said after center Dainius Zubrus was hit on the right leg with a shot in Thursday night's shootout loss at Nashville, perhaps breaking the leg. "I don't know where it's going to stop, but we still have to do our best."
And even though the Devils take their second two-game losing streak of the season into Dallas on Saturday night, they are 14-5-1, with 29 of a possible 40 points.
The Devils will get more word on Zubrus, whose shin guard was broken by the shot by Nashville's Kevin Klein, Friday after his return to New Jersey.
