Texans Team Report

The Texans are keeping their draft strategy as secret as possible, but their needs are not a secret. They need a running back and a cornerback first and foremost. They're expected to get both in the first three rounds, possibly the first two.
In their first eight drafts, the Texans never selected a running back in the first two rounds of the regular draft. They had to forfeit a second-round pick in 2003 after taking Georgia Tech running back Tony Hollings in the second round of the supplemental draft, and he turned out to be a huge bust.
The third round is the highest the Texans have selected a back in the April draft, and they did it twice, taking Vernand Morency (2005) and Steve Slaton (2008).
The best back they drafted was Dominique Davis in 2003.

Ryans, the 2006 Defensive Rookie of Year, had 123 tackles and a sack last season. The other Texans offered deals Thursday were tight end Owen Daniels, strong safety Bernard Pollard, defensive end Tim Bulman, tackle Rashad Butler, running back Ryan Moats and guard Chris White.
