Syracuse hands No. 6 Heels first loss

Turner, No. 15 Ohio St. beat No. 13 Cal

Ohio State's two-game visit to Madison Square Garden was inconsistent to say the least. The Buckeyes' best player, however, has been consistent all season. Evan Turner had 26 points and 14 rebounds, his fourth double-double in as many games, and No. 15 Ohio State beat No. 13 California 76-70 on Friday night in the third-place game of the 2K Sports Classic.
No. 5 Villanova tops No. 18 Dayton 71-65

Corey Fisher claims he never got nervous after No. 5 Villanova nearly gave up an 18-point lead to No. 18 Dayton in the second half. It showed at the free-throw line. Fisher scored 18 points and was perfect in four trips to the foul line in the final minutes to help the Wildcats (4-0) hold on for a 71-65 victory Friday in the second round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
No. 2 Michigan State rolls past Toledo

Draymond Green had 15 points to lead a balanced attack, and No. 2 Michigan State kept up its home court mastery with a 75-62 win over Toledo on Friday night. The game was a regional matchup in the Legends Classic. The Spartans (3-0) host Valparaiso on Sunday before heading to Atlantic City, N.J., for a date next Friday with Florida in the tournament semifinals.
Lawal helps No. 21 Ga. Tech top Mason

A friendly rivalry between teammates Gani Lawal and Derrick Favors means trouble for opponents of No. 21 Georgia Tech. The two big men each scored 18 points and added three blocks apiece Friday to lead the Yellow Jackets (2-1) to a 70-62 victory over George Mason on Friday in the consolation round of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Harris, Sims lead No. 15 Michigan to win

Manny Harris scored 25 points, and DeShawn Sims added 22 to help No. 15 Michigan beat Houston Baptist 77-55 on Friday night. Harris and Sims each had 12 points during a decisive 29-13 run at the end of the first half that put Michigan (2-0) in front for good. Mario Flaherty scored 17 points, and Andrew Gonzalez had 14 for the Huskies (0-4), playing their third season in NCAA Division I.
Knight to speak at fundraiser in Indy

Bob Knight is returning to Indiana after all. The former Hoosiers coach will speak at a Dec. 17 fundraiser in Indianapolis to benefit the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. The event comes less than six weeks after Knight missed a ceremony inducting him into Indiana University's athletics Hall of Fame in Bloomington.
No. 10 Vols pound East Carolina 105-66

Scott Hopson is making himself right at home outside the 3-point arc. Tennessee is making itself at home in the Virgin Islands. Hopson hit four 3-pointers and scored 25 points Friday, and the No. 10 Volunteers rolled to a 105-66 rout of East Carolina in the opening round of the Paradise Jam at the University of Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center.
No. 22 Clemson cruises by UNC-Greensboro

Trevor Booker scored a season-high 17 points, and No. 22 Clemson routed North Carolina-Greensboro 89-67 on Friday night. Milton Jennings added 14 points for the Tigers (3-0), Andre Young had 13 and David Potter finished with 11. They shot 54.5 percent, broke it open by closing the first half with a huge run and extended their school-record winning streak in non-conference road games to 11.
