Hornets Team Report
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 02:40:34 PDT)
For the second time in 10 days, the Hornets allowed the Warriors to score 131 points.
But unlike the game in New Orleans on March 8, when the Hornets scored a season-high 135 points to win, they couldn't keep up Wednesday night and lost, 131-121, in Oakland.
Things were starting to look up for the Hornets, who bounced back from a loss at Phoenix to start their five-game road trip by beating the Clippers on Monday, but despite leading the Warriors by double digits for much of the game, a complete defensive collapse dropped them to 1-2 on the trip.
If the Hornets don't play substantially better defense, their trip could end on a very sour note with games at the Nuggets on Thursday and at the Jazz on Saturday.
The Hornets (33-36), who completed a four-game...
Warriors rally to beat Hornets
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 23:08:42 PDT)
The injury-ravaged Golden State Warriors haven't had the luxury of slowly bringing along their NBA Development League. That's worked well for Reggie Williams, one of five D-League players called up by Golden State this season. Williams scored 22 points, 18 in the fourth quarter, to help the Warriors overcome a 21-point deficit and beat the New Orleans Hornets 131-121 on Wednesday night.

Hornets beat cold-shooting Clippers 108-100
(Mon, 15 Mar 2010 23:16:25 PDT)
Emeka Okafor did a number on Chris Kaman in the low post at both ends of the court, keeping the 7-foot center's numbers down and keeping the New Orleans Hornets in the game long enough to pull out a victory. Okafor, the only player to start all 68 games for the injury-depleted Hornets, had 14 rebounds and 12 points to help them beat the Los Angeles Clippers 108-100 on Monday night.
Nash plays 1,000th game, Suns beat Hornets 120-106
(Sun, 14 Mar 2010 21:54:26 PDT)
Phoenix Suns fans booed when the team drafted Steve Nash in 1996. They had no idea how wrong they were. Nash played in his 1,000th NBA game on Sunday night, ever the crafty playmaker with 13 points and 12 assists in the Suns' 120-106 victory over the New Orleans Hornets. "To play 1,000 games is amazing," the 36-year-old point guard said.
Posey to sit out vs. Phoenix
(Sat, 13 Mar 2010 18:35:36 PST)
Hornets forward James Posey did not travel with the team to Phoenix on Saturday and will miss Sunday night's game against the Suns. Posey sat out Friday night's loss to Denver with flulike symptoms. Hornets spokesman Dennis Rogers says his status for Monday's road game against the Los Angeles Clippers is uncertain.
Anthony leads Nuggets past Hornets 102-95
(Fri, 12 Mar 2010 21:31:39 PST)
Carmelo Anthony had the whole repertoire working. There were graceful rainbow jumpers from 20 feet, tough layups in crowds, backdoor cuts for two-handed jams and even some gritty offensive rebounds and putbacks. The struggling New Orleans Hornets could keep pace for only so long. Anthony scored 12 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter and grabbed 12 rebounds, and the Denver Nuggets extended their...

(Fri, 12 Mar 2010 14:15:22 PST)
Hornets forward James Posey has been scratched from New Orleans' game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. Team spokesman Dennis Rogers says Posey has flulike symptoms. Posey is one of the Hornets' primary reserves, averaging five points and 4.5 rebounds in 22.7 minutes. He routinely plays in key late-game situations because of his defensive ability.

Peja Stojakovic out with lower abdominal strain
(Wed, 10 Mar 2010 17:30:29 PST)
The New Orleans Hornets' depleted starting lineup is taking another hit. Forward Peja Stojakovic joined All-Star point guard Chris Paul on the injured list Wednesday, and he's expected to miss at least two weeks with a lower abdominal strain. "That's a minimum timeframe, and it will all be dictated by the healing process," Jeff Bower, the Hornets' coach and general...
