Lowe's Motor Speedway - Track Info
Lowe's Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile Superspeedway in the suburbs of Charlotte. The first World 600 was held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on June 19, 1960. In 1984 Lowe's Motor Speedway became the only sports
facility to have living accommodations on site. They built 40 condominiums above turn one and 12 more in 1991. In 1992 Lowe's Motor Speedway was the first to host a night race with the new lighting
system.
The owners of Lowe's Motor Speedway continue to expand and improve this facility. In the late 90's an additional 26,000 seats were added on the backstretch. Then a year later more additions to the
backstretch grandstand brought the total seating capacity up to 147,000. As if that wasn't enough there was another seating expansion in 1999 to total it out at 167,000 seats at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
