Ridden by Joe Talamo, Reba is Tops was third in the early going, took the lead by a head at the top of the stretch and easily held off Annihilation to win by 1 3/4 lengths, covering six furlongs on turf in 1:09.18.

Loup Breton beat Porfido by 1 3/4 lengths to win the $46,000 feature race at Hollywood Park on Thursday. The 5-year-old gelding, ridden by Garrett Gomez, ran the nine furlongs in 1:46:87, and paid $3.60, $2.80 and $2.20. Porfido returned $5 and $3.20. Tres Borrachos paid $3.40 to show. The win raises Loup Breton's career earnings to $575,308.

Team Zenyatta to be honored with award

Undefeated Zenyatta and her owners, trainer and jockey will be honored with the Big Sport of Turfdom award from the Turf Publicists of America. Owners Jerry and Ann Moss, trainer John Shirreffs and his wife, Dottie, and Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith will receive the 44th annual award on Dec. 8 at the Race Track Industry Program Symposium on Racing & Gaming in Tucson, Ariz.

Churchill Downs is doubling down on night racing next year. The home of the Kentucky Derby announced plans Tuesday to host six night racing events in 2010. The historic Louisville track debuted night racing at three events during its spring meet this year, and track officials said the experiment was a big success.

Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel dies at 68

Bobby Frankel possessed a gift for coaxing top performances out of ornery, high-strung thoroughbreds, a gruff Hall of Fame trainer who was hard in his dealings with humans but gentle with the animals in his barn. Frankel died of cancer Monday at his home in Pacific Palisades, jockey agent Ron Anderson said.

Undefeated Zenyatta is getting her own day at Hollywood Park to celebrate the mare who ended her career with a 14-0 record and a victory over the boys in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic. Paul Pompa Jr.'s Mary's Follies won the Grade II $206,500 Mrs. Revere for 3-year-old fillies at Churchill Downs on Saturday, beating Keertana by 1 1/2 lengths in an event-record time. Ridden by Kent Desormeaux for trainer Rick Dutrow, Mary's Follies ran 1 1-16 miles on the turf course in 1:41.73, more than second faster than the stakes mark set by Snow Dance in 2001.
